Free Garden Equipment Property
Marking scheme
Following on from the success of our recent free cycle marking event
earlier this year your local Neighbourhood Policing Team are
introducing a free property marking scheme for residents living in
the village. This scheme is aimed at security marking garden
equipment that can be found in garden sheds and garages, for
example, sit-on-mowers, strimmers, leaf blowers, etc.
Marking garden equipment is one of the simplest and most effective
ways of protecting valuable items. To assist in the prevention and
detection of crime, equipment should be marked by a method which is
secure, visible and leads to the identity of the owner. Even if some
equipment is not considered valuable enough to mark, it should be
marked so that if it is stolen, it makes it more difficult for the
criminal to dispose of and far more likely that they will be
convicted if caught in possession.
Using a system of pre-printed stencils and chemical etching local
officers will visit residential properties and mark selected items.
Signs and stickers will also be used to inform prospective thieves
that all garden equipment is security marked and registered.
A record will be kept of all items marked; using a free phone 0800
number this database can be referred to, 24 hours a day, should an
item be stolen and subsequently found.
Interested? Then collect a booking form up from the front table in
the Village Hall, add your contact details and a preferable date for
having your property marked. Once done, either leave your completed
form for us to collect in the village hall or just contact any one
of us and we will visit you and security mark your property.
