Speedwatch

This year there have been two speed surveys, one at each end of Oving Village High street and each has highlighted that 70% of traffic is exceeding the 30mph speed limit. The increase in overall traffic, including farm machinery, now passing through the village and the narrowness of the road increases the risk of accidents to pedestrians. Parents and children crossing to the school bus are particularly at risk.
Speedwatch is asking people to sign up to keeping to the speed limit through the village.Remember 5mph over the limit means an extra 21ft (6.5Metres) to stop in good road conditions. A number of collisions and minor accidents occur in the High Street which are not logged so if you witness such incidents, let the community Wardens know so that a case can be made for further road safety measures.
