AGOG help with
Church Garden |
|
AGOG (A Gathering of Oving Gardeners),
which disbanded in 2007, decided to donate £90 to fund improvements
to the church garden. This amount was the residue left in their
account after all had been settled. and will be used to enhance the
garden which is under construction in the right hand rear corner of
the Churchyard, near to the Garden of Remembrance. Sandra and Roger
Baynham have worked very hard in preparing the large bed using
compost, donated by John Pitt (Earth Cycle), and by purchasing and
planting suitable shrubs. Our thanks go to Sandra and Roger and to
AGOG for this welcome donation and effort.

New Priest-in-Charge Appointed at St Andrew’s Church |
|
On Thursday evening 10th
April, the new priest-in-charge for the Parishes of Tangmere and
Oving, Father Ian Rogers, was
licensed by the Bishop of Chichester. This was a great occasion with
almost 200 people attending the service in St Andrew’s Church, Oving.
A large number of members of the congregation from Father Ian’s
previous church in Shepherds Bush were especially welcome. The
service was followed by a reception in the Oving Jubilee Hall and
was enjoyed by all.
This was a very special day for
the two villages which have been without a priest for nearly three
years. The appointment of Father Ian is especially welcomed in Oving
as St Andrew’s was threatened with closure two years ago but owing
to the efforts of the congregation, parishioners and the Oving
community in general, the church was saved from closure.
